Poster analysis: Undisputed 3
Poster analysis: Undisputed 3
The film undisputed 3 is of an action genre as we can see from the features of the poster. The main character is in the middle of the poster with his muscles exposed and his facial appearance looks like he just came out of a fight. Also the darkness and title of the movie ‘undisputed’ hints us that it is an action movie. The 2 main characters are in the middle of the poster which sets the scene for us, also the facial expression of the first character tells us that it is something to do with revenge also from the position of the second character looks like he is in the shadow of the first character this gives us the impression that they are some sort of enemies. Yuri boyka (first character) looks like he is getting ready, or just came out of a fight, plus his appearance looks hood as he has multiple tattoos on his arms and torso this again gives us the impression that this movie will be of a martial arts or action genre and that it will be set in a place like a jail or a penitentiary centre.
The title of the movie is in white and bold witch contrasts with the dark background and it makes it stand out as if it is the only ‘good’ or ‘right’ thing in the movie, also the number three is in red which suggests that there is also going to be blood in the movie, along with the names of the actors. This gives us the impression that not everything in this movie is simple and not everything is in black and white and it might have other factors contributing to it.
One of the unique selling points of this film is the package as it is directed by the same person who directed undisputed 2 (Isaac Florentine), also the actors is another part of its USP as it stars martial artist Scott Adkins, who is well known and credited for his martial arts skills. This is a very strong USP as the movie requires a good martial artist to do most of the stunts in the movie. Also this is renforced by the poster as the 2 main characters the martial artists are standing big in the middle of the poster, and their names are bold on the poster. Yuri Boyka fixing his fists and his facial expression plays a very big part on the poster as it needs to give the impression that he is angry, frustrated and out for revenge. Also the darkness in the poster shows and gives us the impression of how yuris life is like in jail and and minimum light in the background shows us that even though hes life is tough he still has hope and there is still some light in the darkest of places. The poster does not have a tagline, this could suggest that there is no time to waste and he is going straight into action as he does not have any time to waste.
The characters in this movie look like they are middle aged (25-30) this is due to the fact that if a person in jail will get into trouble and into fights it will most likely be young people who care for reputation and respect whereas an older person would mind his own business and not get caught into the madness that is occurring in prisons.
